How Generative Artificial Intelligence Can Revolutionize Explainer Videos
AI has been infiltrating the creative industries for a while now, but over the past couple of years, its popularity amongst artists and designers has exploded. Constantly improving, AI technology offers new ways to optimize the creative workflow and push the limits of imagination.
What is Generative AI?
Generative AI is a type of artificial intelligence that involves creating or generating new data, such as images, text, or music, using machine learning models. The technology enables computers to learn patterns from existing input and then use that knowledge to create brand-new and unique data.
With its versatility and wide range of applications, generative AI has the potential to flip the explainer video industry on its head and transform the video marketing world forever. AI-powered tools can automate video production, tailor content to specific audiences, and help marketers make more informed decisions about their video campaigns.
How Can AI Help with Video Marketing?
AI has already transformed how we look at ads completely. Machine learning algorithms analyze collected user data to optimize campaigns by identifying the best times to run your ads, the best audiences to target, and the most effective messaging.
Generative AI can even help you build your video marketing strategy. By simply entering a few prompts into a tool like ChatGPT, you have a clear and detailed description of your target audience, as well as an engaging script tailored to the specific viewer that the video is trying to impress.
AI for Explainer Video Production
One of the most exciting developments in the creative world is the emergence of machine-learning tools for generating and improving sketches, character concepts, and designs. There are thousands of AI-based tools you can use to facilitate your explainer video production process, but in this video, we’ll check out a few examples.
AutoDraw is an AI-powered drawing tool created by Google Creative Lab and first launched in 2020. When the user begins drawing an image, AutoDraw recognizes the shape and generates suggestions based on an AI model trained on millions of hand-drawn images. That makes it great for creating multiple basic sketches in a short time.
There are also numerous AI tools to use to create detailed concept art and designs by simply entering regular text. One of the most hyped at this moment is Midjourney, released in July 2022 by San Francisco-based independent research lab. It can create unique and detailed illustrations of objects, animals, and even abstract concepts by reading simple text descriptions. You can also upload your own image and edit it with the help of a prompt with Midjourney.
Did you know that you can optimize your entire animation workflow in After Effects with the help of ChatGPT? The tool has been trained on a vast corpus of text data that includes code in various programming languages. So ChatGPT can actually write code! This includes Javascript that you can use to write scripts that automate certain operations in After Effects. Just keep in mind that you might have to tweak a few things to make it work – ChatGPT is not a real software developer, after all. Watch this video to see how you can use ChatGPT to optimize your After Effect Workflow. If you’re a fan of After Effects and don’t want to go through the hassle of creating your own scripts, you can always download these amazing free plugins from AEJuice.
Some tools can even generate realistic-sounding voiceovers by using AI algorithms. Like the one used in the video above which was created with an AI software called Eleven Labs.
More AI to Come
Yet, the AI race seems to just be getting started. Huge corporations like Meta and Google have also created text-to-video tools based on machine learning. Considering the massive amounts of user data they have collected in order to improve their algorithms, the expectations for quality there are pretty high. However, their tools are not available to the public as of now.
Adobe also announced its AI tool. Firefly is said to change the AI image generation game entirely. One of the biggest criticisms against image generators so far is that they use all the images on the internet, including copyrighted ones, to feed their algorithm. That raises a lot of questions about whether it’s legal or ethical it is to use an image generated by Midjourney, Dall-E, or Stable Diffusion, for instance, for commercial purposes. Adobe Firefly solves this issue by only sourcing images from Adobe Stock’s massive collection. This means that any image generated with Adobe Firefly will be already licensed. However, it’s still not clear how revenue will be shared between the creators of the images that have been sourced to generate the final image.
Ai is definitely changing the game by making it easier than ever to create high-quality explainer videos. But while AI tools can be helpful, they can never produce the level of customization or creativity needed to set your brand apart from the competition.
